NEW State of the Art "Performance Health Surgery Center" in Fort Myers!

On July 10, 2019, Performance Health Surgery Center (PHSC) in Fort Myers, Florida will open its doors to its first surgical patients. The spacious facility is 17,000 square feet and was designed as a musculoskeletal center of excellence.

Performance Health Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center. Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) are health care facilities that offer patients the convenience of having surgeries performed safely outside of a hospital setting. Performance Health Surgery Center was formed by Dr. Bynum and a group of surgeons from Joint Implant Surgeons of FL to offer easily accessible outpatient care to Southwest FL using the newest, state of the art equipment and a highly experienced staff.

PHSC is located at 9500 Gulf Research Lane, conveniently accessible off Alico Road near I-75 in south Fort Myers. It has four operating rooms and includes overnight private recovery bays designed for patients that require extended post-surgical recovery. Florida recently passed a bill allowing patients to stay overnight in licensed surgery centers, bringing Florida in line with both Medicare standards and many other states. PHSC designed the facility in anticipation of this change. It will allow PHSC to provide an enhanced level of surgical care at a substantial value to patients compared to hospital-based surgery.

The facility will focus on all types of orthopedic surgery, including sports medicine, general orthopedics, and total joint replacement. The facility will also provide for spine surgery and pain management procedures. The primary practice group affiliated with the center, the Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida (JISF), brought on local neurosurgeon Jeffrey Henn in 2018. Dr. Henn will utilize PHSC to perform minimally invasive spine surgery.

PHSC was borne out of a vision from the partners of JISF for a state-of-the-art facility that accommodates the surgical needs of all partners in a single location. A major component of PHSC will be its total joint replacement program, which provides a new, high-value option for residents of Lee County and the Southwest Florida requiring joint replacement surgery.

“This surgery center is a long time coming for our patients,” says Dr. Dennis Sagini of JISF. “Our practice is geared toward providing the absolute best experience for patients at the most reasonable cost possible. Complex orthopedic surgery in the outpatient environment is the future for our specialty. We have honed our process and techniques over many years and many thousands of surgical cases to make this a reality. The surgery center will allow us to maintain our reputation as a world-class destination for orthopedic surgery for many years to come.”
